School Boundary Updates for 2027-28 School Year

The purpose of this page is to centralize communication around the school boundary updates to be implemented for the 2027-28 school year. 

With the construction of a new Wilder-Waite Grade School, Dunlap CUSD #323 will be able to address the high enrollment at Hickory Grove Elementary School, allow for future growth at Banner Elementary School, and ensure that all elementary and middle schools are proportionately balanced through updated school boundaries.

Boundary Update Phases

Dunlap School District Administration recognizes the strong emotions associated with the topic of updating school boundaries. As parents/guardians, we are charged with many tasks and responsibilities, including ensuring stability and access to a high-quality education. As such, Dunlap School District has developed a multi-phase process to provide a final proposal to the Dunlap CUSD #323 Board of Education at the October 21, 2026, meeting.

Boundary Advisory Committee & Timeline

During the first and second phases of the Boundary Update process, Dunlap Administration reviewed historical and projected enrollment data along with potential construction developments within our district’s boundaries to develop draft proposals in anticipation of sharing with the Boundary Advisory Committee, a group comprised of…

• District-level administrators,
•  Building-level administrators,
•  School Board members,
•    School staff members, and
• Parents/guardians of current students.

The group will provide two rounds of review around current proposals before the proposals are shared with the district to allow for feedback.

Ensuring Clarity: Focused Goal, Purpose,  & Guiding Principles

To ensure that the Boundary Advisory Committee understands its charge and role in the boundary update process, a clear purpose has been established. The committee will work together to provide feedback and considerations for district administration as a final recommendation is determined. 

Public Engagement & Review of Proposals

As seen in the Timeline image above, there will be an opportunity for the public to review the updated proposals in person:
