READING/LIBRARY

• Reading is a large portion of second grade. We spend a great deal of time working on reading in large group, small groups, and independent reading.
• Please read with your child on a daily basis. It is helpful if this can become part of your nightly routine. After your child has read to you, ask them questions to check their comprehension. It is a special time for everyone involved.Each child will have their own bag of books to bring home at night to share with you.

• Our class will go to the library once a week. Your child may bring their library book home to share with you, but please be sure that it is returned before our next library visit.
• Our class will be enjoying the AR program. Students independently read the Accelerated Reading book and then take a test on the computer. We have a notebook in our class to check books you have at home-many of your books may also be AR books.
