CALL TO ORDER: Meeting was called to order at 7:0=
1 p.m.
by PTO President, Malisa Rohn.
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT: Todd Jefferson
Mr. Jefferson stated that progress with the new roof=
has
been slow, but expects it to be completed by mid-October.
The District continues to grow. Dunlap District 323 has seen a net=
growth
of 142 students. Mr. Jefferson
explained the current state of the economy has not affected the
District’s growth. Deci=
sions
will be made in the near future regarding a possible referendum, or making
additions and/or accommodations to existing buildings.
Benchmark assessments have been completed. Mr. Jefferson hopes to have assess=
ment
results sent home 9/18 with progress reports. At this time, he is having issues =
with
the software, but anticipates the problem to be taken care of in time to se=
nd
the reports home 9/18.
Mr. Jefferson shared the book, “How to Talk so
Kids Can Learn”, with PTO members.&n=
bsp;
He gave each teacher a copy of the book at the end of the last school
year. There is a “parent
version” of the book available as well. The books come highly recommended =
by the
teachers at Wilder-Waite.
Mr. Jefferson introduced the teacher representatives=
for
the evening: Jenna Bibb, Jen
Wolcott and Christine Barrow.
Mrs. Barrow introduced herself and explained her rol=
e as
school counselor. She discuss=
ed her
referral procedures and notified PTO members she now has her website update=
d. She also would like parents to kno=
w she
has various pamphlets available for their viewing. The pamphlets discuss topics such =
as
instilling success, discipline, respect, values, studying and organizational
skills.
Mrs. Bibb thanked the Staff Appreciation committee f=
or
the Back to School lunch. She=
also
announced the Mini Relay for Life will be held again this school year on
4/23/10.
Mr. Jefferson stated he would like to obtain more
information from teachers regarding issues and /or events happening in their
classroom. He would like to c=
reate
more communication to the PTO members regarding classroom events.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Malisa Rohn
Ms. Rohn stated Back to School night ran smoothly.
The Renaissance Learning program is now running and
students are going to have access to various new AR books/tests.
Ms. Rohn received $28.98 from Cartridges for Kids.
Wilder-Waite PTO now has a new sales tax exempt
number. Please see Ms. Rohn o=

Shanahan if you plan to make purchases in the near future.
VICE-PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Kim Klein
There are 25 days left until Spook Spectacular
’09! Donations continue=
to
come in. The Spook and Splash
Weekend was donated by a Wilder-Waite family, as was an iPod touch, Cannon =
Elph Camera and KitchenAid
Mixer. Other donated it=
ems
include a taco bar for 10 from Qdoba, 4 pairs o=
f Maui
Jim sunglasses, bagels for a year from Panera a=
nd ice
cream for a year from Culver’s.

can be anonymous if you prefer.
Ms. Klein still has various volunteer positions to
fill! She is hoping to receiv=
e some
help from the Chi Omega house at Bradley.
Ms. Klein would like to meet with all teachers affec=
ted
by the construction of the Spook House.&nb=
sp;
She feels there needs to be communication regarding how to make the
process work without any issues or regret.
Raffle tickets go on sale September 23rd.=

SECRETARY’S REPORT: Jayme Cekander
Ms. Rohn asks for a motion to approve the August 2009

TREASURER’S REPORT: Jen Shanahan
Ms. Shanahan stated August ended with a checking acc=
ount
balance of $7,392.36 and a savings account balance of $3,180.69, for a total
ending balance of $10,573.05.
YEARBOOK: Jenny Alcenius
Ms. Alcenius is going to begin taking candid photos =
at
school soon. She would like
teachers to notify her when they’ll be having special events in their
classrooms so she can photograph them for the yearbook.
SCRIP: Lori Endres
Ms. Endres stated she has received a check from Krog=
er
Scrip for $1270.00. She hopes=
to
place an article in Wildcat Scratch to encourage all parents to shop at
businesses such as Target, Schnuck’s and
Kroger.
MARKET DAY: Cecilia Rieker
The first Market Day sale ends 9/22, and internet or=
ders
are due 9/17. Ms. Rieker still
needs volunteers to help on pick-up day.
BOX TOPS: Nancy Day
The first Box Tops contest is underway. This will continue until 9/30. Ms. Day now has a traveling trophy=
and
the winning class will receive the trophy to place in their classroom, as w=
ell
as a party. Anyone in the win=
ning class
who brings in box tops will be entered into a drawing for a prize such as R=
ave
movie passes.
PROJECT IMPACT: Absent
SPIRIT WEAR: Elaine Boston
Ms. Boston will place the Spirit Wear order 9/17, and
orders should be available in early October. She expects a profit of approximat=
ely
$276.00. Ms. Boston would lik=
e to
promote T-shirts before Spring Break.
She would also like to have a group photo of students wearing Spirit
Wear taken by the yearbook staff to encourage families to purchase the
clothing.

Spread sheets are almost complete and should be
distributed this week. Ms. Fl=

does not have as many volunteers this year as she did last year.
ROOM PARENT: Kerry Grimm
Ms. Rohn reported class party lists have been
distributed. There are still a
couple of volunteer spots to fill and Ms. Grimm will be placing an ad in
Wildcat Scratch to hopefully fill those spots.
WILDCAT SCRATCH: Umiko Post
Ms. Rohn reported the first edition will be out 9/18=
.
STAFF APPRECIATION: Shelby Johnson and Marcie Gardner<= o:p>
The committee will be providing treats for the staff
during conferences in October.
Please notify the co-chairs if there are any staff birthdays that ha=

been forgotten.
OLD BUSINESS:
Ms. Klein discussed possibly enrolling in Naeir. =
Naeir is a company that solicits donations from busin=
esses
to donate back to non-profit organizations. Membership per year is just under
$500. If you become a member,=
you can
order merchandise from catalogs that are distributed throughout the year, or
you can go to Galesburg twice a year to participate in “Grab
Bag”. The “Grab
Bag” option allows 2 members from the school to shop in their footbal=
l-sized
room for 2 hours. Members hav=
e been
known to accumulate approximately $20,000 worth of merchandise in one
year. Examples of merchandise=
that
Wilder-Waite could acquire include office supplies, incentive prizes for AR,
Spook redemption, Box Tops, etc., iPods, lawn and garden supplies, sports
equipment, furniture and toys.
Ms. Klein stated that Spook redemption budget alone =
is
$400. She stated that the PTO=
could
use existing budget money to become a member of Naeir<=
/span>.
NEW BUSINESS:
According to the agenda, the Project Impact by-laws =
were
to be discussed at this meeting.
Due to the fact that neither co-chair was able to attend tonightR=
17;s
meeting, the discussion has been postponed until the next PTO meeting.
Ashley Flanagan made a motion to adjourn. Cecilia Rieker seconds. Meeting adjourned at 7:38 p.m.
