2008-09 REGISTRATION PACKETS – We want to remind parents to return your child's registration packet for the 2008-09 school year to the office by Friday, May 16 .   These packets were sent home with your child last Friday.   If you have questions regarding the registration packet, please contact the office at 243-7728.   Book rental payments are required to be submitted with the registration papers and will not be deposited until July 1, 2008.  

SHERIDAN NURSERY FUNDRAISER – If you are shopping for landscaping materials this spring, consider shopping at Sheridan Nursery.   Each spring Sheridan Nursery gives 10% of your purchases back to Wilder-Waite Grade School.   A voucher explaining details was sent home with last week's bulletin.   You must present this voucher at the time of purchase .   This offer is good from April 20 through May 31.

VOLUNTEER BREAKFAST –   A continental breakfast will be provided by the school for anyone who volunteered at school in any capacity this past year.   The breakfast will take place on Monday, May 19.   Juice, coffee, bagels, and donuts will be provided in the cafeteria from 7:30 until 9:00 that morning as a way to say thank you for your continued support of our school.   Stop by and grab a bite to go or stop by and stay awhile if you choose.   Please RSVP with Mrs. Densberger by Friday, May 16 if you plan on stopping in for breakfast.   

D.A.R.E GRADUATION – We will hold our 5 th grade D.A.R.E. graduation on May 21 at 1:45 in the cafeteria.   Our students have been working with Officer Jatkowski for the past few months discussing issues related to peer pressure and its influence on people using drugs and engaging in acts of violence.   Feel free to come and celebrate their graduation with us on this day.    

LUNCH MENUS – Due to the need to reduce our food inventory before the end of the school year students who order extra entrées for lunch may receive a different item than the one on that day's menu.   Please be advised of this if your child orders extras.   Students will not be able to charge a lunch for the remainder of the year.   Please be sure that your child has at least $1.40 on their account to ensure they will receive a hot lunch.

FIELD DAYS – 3rd-5th students will have their field day on Thursday, May 22 and K-2 students will have field day on Friday, May 23.   Field days are organized by Mr. Carter and are intended to provide a fun day for students filled with team-building activities.   Please be sure to have your child wear sunscreen on their field day.   Mr. Carter is still in need of the following supplies for field days:

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL – The final day of school for students will be Tuesday, May 27.   The hours for this day will be 7:45 to 9:45.   We also have our annual Awards Program on this day beginning from 8:30 to 9:15.   Kindergarten students do not have school on this day.   The last day for kindergarten students will be Friday, May 23 .  

KINDERGARTEN NEWS…

  • Mrs. Gangloff's students will get their first taste of school lunch on Monday, May 12.   The morning class will eat lunch at 10:05.   The afternoon class will eat lunch at 12:25.   Ms. Amundsen's class will eat lunch on Friday, May 16 at 12:25.   Your kindergartner may bring a lunch from home or have the experience of eating a school lunch.   If your child chooses to eat hot lunch that day, please send $1.40 to school with your child that day in an envelope marked “lunch money.”
  • The last day of school for kindergarten students will be Friday, May 23 .    The last day of school for all other students will be Tuesday, May 27.  

6 th GRADE PHYSICALS – As per recent school code amendment, current fifth grade students will not be required to have a physical for sixth grade.   This is contrary to information that was sent in previous bulletins.  

DENTAL EXAMS – Parents of students in kindergarten and second grade are reminded that state law mandates that your child (only K and 2 nd ) have an oral health examination and that proof of this examination must be on file at school.   If you received a reminder in the mail, the deadline is May 1, 2008.   If you are unsure whether your child is in compliance, please call Mrs. Densberger (243-7728).

EYE EXAMS (NEW REQUIREMENT) – Students entering kindergarten or are entering an Illinois school for the first time are now required to have an eye exam.   Forms will be included in registration packets for parents.

BOX TOPS CONTEST -Time is running out if you want to get in the raffle to win a $25 gift card to Toys R Us and other great prizes. Please send in all of your Box Tops by Monday, May 12 th . Bundle 10 Box Tops together in a rubber band, fill out your child's name/teacher on a sheet of paper and they'll be entered into the contest. Thanks so much for supporting the Box Tops program.
