Wilder-Waite Grade School is one of four elementary schools within Dunlap Community Unit School District 323. Located on the northwest edge of Peoria, Wilder-Waite is the oldest of the four Dunlap elementary schools. Wilder-Waite was built in 1947 and originally served K-8 students. The school was named Wilder-Waite in recognition of the Wilder and Waite families who donated the land that the school was built on.
Currently, Wilder-Waite serves a diverse array of students in grades K-5. Enrollment is between 380 and 400 students. We offer a comprehensive academic program that includes a half day kindergarten program. The school year typically begins in mid August and concludes at the end of May. School begins each day at 7:45 AM and dismisses at 2:45 PM.
Wilder-Waite has received numerous accolades for academic achievement from both the Illinois State Board of Education and the Chicago Sun-Times. More importantly, our staff, parents, and students work in a collaborative fashion to provide a safe, challenging, and nurturing environment for students.
