Dear Parents and Community Leaders,

On behalf of the board of education, thank you for your engagement in our community’s school district! Our parent involvement is one of our greatest assets in the results we have achieved for our kids.

Did you know we have begun the process of proactively searching for our next superintendent of Dunlap District Unit School District #323? Succession planning is one of the important areas we focus on as a board. We have contracted with School Exec Connect, an educational search firm, to assist with the search for our new district superintendent. We will be backfilling Mrs. Jeanne Williamson’s position July 9, 2009 as she moves into retirement.

We want to hear from you! By June 15, 2008, we will have on the district’s web site, www.dunlapcusd.net, a voluntary on-line survey for you to complete. Your input on the desired skills and characteristics in our next superintendent are greatly appreciated. Please take time to share with us your thoughts.

We look forward to your assistance in this search process.

Sincerely,

Bruce Hay
President
Dunlap CUSD #323 Board of Education

SAVE THE DATE - Benefit for Alex Shelton
Alex Shelton, a 2006 graduate from Dunlap High School, has been hospitalized since January 4, 2008. As an ISU Dean's List student, Alex was on a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for a one-week Leadership Academy seminar with 125 other college leaders from all over the country. While sleep walking, Alex fell off a hotel balcony. He required immediate brain surgery and was given a 10 percent chance of living. His parents, Mike and Tammy Shelton, have shared, "What started out as a trip of a lifetime, became a life and death struggle." As the months have passed, Alex has made remarkable progress, but those who know him would say he is a remarkable person. Alex is currently hospitalized going through intense therapies. The Dunlap High School will be hosting an Alex Shelton Night on September 12, 2008 at the home football game. We ask that you save the date and join us in our benefit of giving. More information will be forthcoming.
