My name is Jason Holmes and I am the principal here at Dunlap Valley Middle School. I welcome you to our learning community and encourage you to continue to be a part of this exciting time developing DVMS. This presents thrilling opportunities for our students that will lead to a very challenging program in both academic and extra-curriculars.
Dunlap Valley Middle School operates grades 6-8 in a building that recognizes the needs of each particular grade level and appreciates the middle school concept. Each student will participate in our exploratory programs consisting of art, computers, quest, family and consumer science, and applied tech. Also, DVMS offers a variety of music curricula. Our music program competes at variety of competitions and exemplifies the word team work. Dunlap Valley Middle school recognizes the need to reach and to build relationships with all types of learners. Understanding the transitional period for incoming sixth graders, we offer an advisory program to maximize the learning environment.
In addition, Dunlap Valley Middle School is an active member of the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA). This membership allows DVMS to participate in state sanctioned events throughout the state of Illinois in extra-curricular activities. We provide competitive schedules for boy/girls basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, cross-country, cheerleading, poms, and track/field in grades 6-8. DVMS also sponsors activities such as speech, scholastic bowl, student council and math counts. These extra-curriculars help mold and challenge DVMS students in life skills while promoting teamwork.
We hope to create an environment conducive to learning and one that challenges our students to better prepare them from high school and beyond. If at anytime during the course of the school year you need to contact me or any school faculty member, please don’t hesitate to call. I look forward to an exciting year as we open this awesome building.
