Each month we will be studying several units in the areas of science and social studies. Many of the science units are hands on. The students really enjoy them. We will begin the year with a unit on communities and neighborhoods. We will then be learning about insects and butterflies, where each child will observe his/her own painted lady caterpillar change into a butterfly. The remainder of the year will go as follows:
October- spiders, fire safety, Columbus
November- nutrition, Native Americans, Pilgrims
December- magnets, sound, Christmas in Mexico
January- fossils, dinosaurs, Martin Luther King
February- dental health, Lincoln, Washington, the United States
