Maps, Globes, Grids, Directions OH MY!
In order to enhance our geography skills, I have daily geography in my classroom by the Evan-Moor Company! This fantastic series covers all 36 weeks of the school year and touches on very important concepts. This practice involves a map, two questions for each day of the week and a challenge question. On Monday, there will be a 10-15 minute mini-lesson on the material and the students will be asked to answer their daily questions for the rest of the week independently. They will be able to keep a geography glossary at their desks with all of their definitions and new words we learn! This is a great way for the students to learn fun facts as well as practicing their independent working skills! What makes this even better is that it applies directly to the National Geography Standards and they will continue this same series in 3rd Grade!!
