Explore More Volunteers

Thank you to the parent volunteers who signed up to help with Explore More next Friday. If you signed up to work in the morning session, please arrive at the office by 7:30 a.m. for a short orientation meeting. If you signed up to work in the afternoon, plan to come for lunch at 11:00. Please wear red so that children can easily identify parents that are there to assist them in finding their classes. Thank you again for your help.
Physicals
Students entering 5 th grade for the 2008-09 school year will NOT need to have a physical. In addition to that, for this year only, students entering 6 th grade are also exempt from having a physical. St. Jude Run
![]()
ATTENTION ADULTS AND 18 YEAR OLD HIGH SCHOOL RUNNERS!!!
The second annual St. Jude “Dunlap/Chillicothe” satellite run on August 2 nd is looking for more participants. The run begins that morning at Prospect Church in Dunlap and continues on a 50 mile course, ending at the Peoria Civic Center late that afternoon, about the time the Memphis to Peoria runners arrive. The distance you run is up to you - it can be as little as 2 miles or as many as you like. There are 17 “legs” to the run with each leg being between 2 to 5 miles. As a participant, you are asked to raise $500 in donations to benefit the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital . Currently, we run with the Chillicothe runners, but are hoping to get enough participants to someday have our own “Dunlap” satellite run. Questions, call Sherry Miller 243-2525 or Linda Kier 691-6081.
Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week
![]()
Next week is Staff Appreciation Week. Please join us in thanking our teachers, secretary, principal, kitchen staff, janitors and bus drivers for the wonderful job they do for us all year. On Wednesday, it would be great to have the children bring in a little thank you note to any or all of these people, thanking them for all their hard work. We really do have the best staff. Thank you!
DGS Parents' Club
5 th Grade Parents
There will be a 5 th grade parent orientation for Dunlap Grade & Ridgeview parents on Monday, May 5 at 6 PM in the high school auditorium.
Registration Packets
Registration Packets for the 2008-09 school year were sent home on Thursday, May 1. Please complete and return all of the paperwork and payment of fees by no later than Friday, May 16 . This will be your only opportunity to register for the coming school year. We need your help in maintaining accurate enrollment projections over the summer months. Please remember to notify us should you move or know you will be moving prior to the start of the school year. We also would appreciate your help in letting any new neighbors know that it is important to stop by the school to register their children as soon as possible. Thank you!
Internet Safety
As a supplement to the DARE curriculum, Officer Jatkowski of the Peoria County Sheriffs Department will be presenting information to the 4 th and 5 th grade classes on Internet safety. Communication and education are effective tools for parents and teachers when helping children avoid the dangers that exist on the Internet. Parents wanting more information on how to talk with their children about Internet safety are encouraged to go online to www.netsmartz.org . The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has developed this website to provide parents with helpful tips and tools that can be used to facilitate conversations with their children about Internet safety.
