Drawing Project 2:
Designing Mouse Ears

Design Problem

At Disney theme parks, thousands of Mouse Ears are sold as souvenirs each day. The presentation that you will watch shows four examples of these Mouse Ears. In this project, you will draw a pair of Mouse Ears that we could sell as souvenirs for Computer Class at Dunlap Middle School.

As your expertise with PowerPoint's drawing tools improves, doing smart work is your goal. Smart work happens when you use the following tips while drawing your projects. Write down these tips on the back of your Unit 7 Notes Worksheet
  1. Hold down the SHIFT key as you use the OVAL tool to draw a perfect circle
  2. Hold down the SHIFT key as you use the RECTANGLE tool to draw a perfect square
  3. Hold down the SHIFT key as you Use the LINE tool to draw a straight line
  4. Hold down the SHIFT key as you click the mouse to select more than one shape at a time (Shift - Select)
  5. Hold down the ALT key to move the shape to an exact position
  6. Hold down the CTRL key then touch the D key to duplicate a shape
  7. Right click - Edit points to redesign a shape
  8. Use Draw - Group to make many selected shapes into one shape
  9. Free rotate a shape by using the green dot above a selected shape
  10. Use DRAW - Sent to Back or Bring to Front to complete layering changes

  1. Watch the Project2 Introduction presentation
  2. Save the Project2_MouseEars template to your folder on the H:/ Drive
  3. Open the Project2_MouseEars template in PowerPoint
  4. Look at the Daily Goals (listed below) each day to focus your design work
  5. Follow the step-by-step directions in the Bluebook to complete your drawing

Daily Goals

  1. Day 1: Complete back of the Mouse Ears on Slide 1
  2. Day 2: Draw a design on the front of the Mouse Ears on Slide 2
  3. Day 3: Add the finishing details to Slide 2
  4. Day 4: Look over both slides and the grading sheet
    • Follow the step-by-step directions in the Bluebook, Unit 7: Pages 23-28
    • This project can be completed in less than four days or more than four days.
    • Remember, work at your own pace
    • Use the orange cup to ask questions
