 Erin’s Law mandates sexual abuse education for students each year. Please read the following informative summary of what will be covered at DMS, and call Mrs. Hadley if you have any questions or decide to withdraw your child’s participation on May 2 during your child’s PE or Health class.

To meet the state law requirements for Erin’s Law, a lesson will be presented covering the following topics;

·         Setting personal boundaries and developing healthy social relationships

·         Choosing safe behaviors in social settings; online and offline

·         Recognizing and preventing bullying and abusive behavior

·         Recognizing and appropriately dealing with the influence others have on our behavior

·         Seeking help from trusted adults and your support system

As educators and parents, we understand the sensitivity of the above topics, but we also believe students need to develop skills that will help them stay healthy and safe. Again, please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions or concerns. Your school counselor, Mrs. Terri Hadley
