Hello human! I will tell you about meteor craters. A meteor crater is formed when a meteorite gets through the atmosphere. It forms a bowl shaped rim. When the meteorite hits it makes waves and is fused with rocks. Then it's settled and is called a debris. Daniel Barringer (1860-1929) was one of the first to identify an meteor crater. It was the famous crater in Arizona. Barringer's hypothesis was that a large iron meteor caused the impact. His hypothesis was proven true when a guy named Eugene examined the rocks and found out that is was true. The picture at the bottom is a picture of Barringer.
Those were some examples of meteor craters. Sometimes meteor craters happen on other planets besides the earth because there is a disturbance in space. It is also believed that meteors killed the dinosaurs 66 million years ago. Today meteor craters are a popular tourist attraction. They are not protected as a national monument, but they are truly fantastic. You should go see one if you ever have time!
