Ever wonder why all the planets are named after the Greek  gods? Well , not even I knew that there was a god for the SUN!!!!! Well he was a god named Helios god of the sun. The sun was originally named the Latin root Sol. It was told that Helios lived on the eastern part of the world and visited on his golden chariot.( day time ) His son Phaethon tried to ride the sun chariot, but lost control and set the earth on fire. Did you know that Helios even was a herder? He herded oxygen sheep. The Greeks mainly sacrificed their boars, sheep, cows. All of  Helios's popularity went away when the age of the Romans started. Some still believed in him for many years, They believed in the name Sol.  Well now all of us believe  that this is all what happened.  Mr. Miller was right, we do owe  it  to the Greeks and the Romans. They helped us out with a good name for yhat ball of fire in the sky.
