Triton                          m    Neptune's largest moon!

Triton is Neptune's Largest moon! It is one of the twelve known moon's of Neptune! It was discovered October 10, 1846 by William Lassell scarcely a month after Neptune was discovered. It is the only large moon in our solar system that has a retrograde orbit. A retrograde orbit is an orbit that goes in the opposite direction that the planet does, so Neptune will go left while Triton goes right! Because of the retrograde orbit, it is thought to be captured from the Kuiper belt. Triton also has a very similar composition to Pluto. It is one of the few moons in the Solar System that is geologically active. It is colder than any other measured object in our Solar System. It is also scared by enormous cracks, and has an active geyser that erupts spewing nitrogen gas and dark dust particles several kilometers into the air. Triton is a light bluish whitish color. Sometimes it is gray too.
