The Dunlap High School Library/Technology Center provides over 8,600 books
and 19 magazine titles for school assignments and reports. Also available
for student use is a 42 station computer Internet Research Lab. Entire
classes or individuals may make use of the lab.
Students that would like to conduct magazine research using over 3,000 publication should consider this special Internet connection. OmniFile Full Text select is available through the EBSCO database and contains only peer-reviewed full text articles. The URL address is http://search.ebscohost.com and the students can gain access to this database.
RSA CAT is now the new online library card catalog website. It will
allow full access to the entire catalog at Dunlap High and all the others in the
Resource Sharing Alliance from any computer connected to the Internet. In
addition to looking and working better than the previous Bibliofile database,
the new RSA CAT will often include extras such as book covers, reviews, tables
of contents, summaries, and first chapter previews. The URL address is
http://rsacat.alsrsa.org and can be used from a home computer.
Students that would like to use any of the 2 databases, should
see Mr. Sullivan in the Library for training.
Need research data from newspapers in the United States and around the world? If so, click on the following hot link http://www.refdesk.com/paper.html. The link goes to a page that lists each state in the United States and many regions around the world. Inside the state or region page, there are lists to a huge number of newspapers that post online. If you go to the world section, you can use the Google translate option to convert the newspaper articles from their native language to English. This is a great research tool!
Students are encouraged to browse through books and magazines as well as study in the Library before or after school. Questions concerning the Library should be directed to Mr. Sullivan.
