OPPPORTUNITIES and ESSAY CONTESTS
Alternative Orientation is a program of the University YMCA Free for incoming freshmen to the U of I June 7-8 or July 5-6, 2012.  This is a 1 ½ day retreat that provides incoming freshmen with the opportunity to explore leadership and community engagement in their new collegiate atmosphere.  Register by May 15, 2012 – Website – www.universityymca.org/alternative_orientation

ISU will be conducting the 16th annual Minority HS Scholars Actuarial Academy – July 8 – 13.  This program is designed for minority students who excel in math, enjoy learning and like to solve problems.  The selection process will begin on April 1, 2012, and will continue until qualified applicants are accepted no later than May 1 decisions will be made. 

Adventures in Filmmaking will be offered @ Western IL University from July 8 – 13.  This summer enrichment program is offered to students in grades – 9-11.  Participants work as a team to produce a short narrative film by writing, acting, filming, and editing in collaboration with other program participants.   Checkout the website  -
