The Federal Service Academies will be hosting an “All Academy Night” on Monday, May 12th at 7:00 PM in the base aerospace dining facility in Building 628 at the Illinois Air National Guard base, 182d Airlift Wing, 2416 S. Falcon Blvd, Peoria.  This event is held annually for students interested in attending any of the following education institutions:  US Air Force Academy, US Merchant Marie Academy, US Military Academy at West Point, US Naval Academy, US Coast Guard Academy.  This event is open to all junior high and high school students, parents, school administrators, and guidance counselors.  Due to security constraints, anyone interested in attending must RSVP no later than May 9 by emailing or calling Lt. Adventures in Filmmaking – This is a filmmaking workshop for high school students.   This is a chance to explore, learn, and practice movie-making skills on Western’s campus.  For further information, check their website at www.wiu.edu/noncredit.

Legacy International, in partnership with the American Language Center of Marrakech is offering a 6-week intensive Arabic Language program in Morocco for 20 high school students in June and July, 2008!  This program will provide formal language instruction by native speakers in Modern Stander Arabic and will allow young people to be immersed in Arabic speaking through home stays, site visits, student roundtables and lectures.  So if you are interested in studying the Arabic language and more information check their website at www.legacyintl.org/programs/ALI/htm#apply

The University of Southern California is hosting a summer seminar for juniors and senior to live on campus, student with USC instructors, and sample college life.  Each seminar grants (3) units of University elective credits.  You may visit their website for the most up to date information at www.usc.edu/summer

 

Northwestern University will host a College Preparation Program that is designed to challenge them academically and experience college life before they actually finish high school.  This year’s program will take place for three to nine weeks from June 22 to August 22, 2008 as part of the regular Northwestern Summer Session.  Check website at www.northwestern.edu/collegeprep

 

Washington University in St. Louis is hosting a summer 2008 Scholars Program for students entering their senior year.  It is a five-week view of college life with real college courses – with credits you earn toward a future Washington University degree or may be transferred to another college or university.  You may choose your classes from the following areas:  foreign language, the sciences, the humanities, the arts, and the social sciences.  To apply for the program, you must be at least 16, B+ average or better, SAT of 1800, combined PSAT score of 180 or a composite ACT or PLAN of at least 25.  There will offer two sessions.  For more information and application materials, check website at www.summerscholars.wustl.edu
