Civics is required of all students not taking the Civics B course. It is offered both semesters of the year. The subject matter of the course includes the organization and functions of the national, state, and local governments. The course also includes preparation for the tests on the U.S. Constitution, and Illinois State Constitution test. A study of current International news events is expressed.
