374 ELECTRICITY/ELECTRONICS TECHNOLOGY

Prerequisite:  Algebra I

Offered To:  Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors

 

Electricity/Electronics is an advanced course designed for students who are going into engineering or the appropriate vocational fields.  A student taking this course will need a strong background in mathematics.  The course will be divided into three sections.  The first section will be an introduction consisting of the following units: Atoms, Electrons, and Electric Charges, Circuit Diagrams and Symbols.  The second will be a section on Electric Circuits and Devices.  This will consist of units on Voltage, Current, and Power, Ohm’s Law and Power Formulas, Series and Parallel Circuits, and Measuring Electrical Quantities.  Electrical wiring will be the third section with units consisting of: Wire and Cables, Wiring Tools and Devices, Lamps and Lighting, Home Electrical Systems, Electric Motors, and Automobile Electrical Systems.
