267 FRENCH IV (AP)
Credit Granted: One per year
Prerequisite: French I, II, and III with a “B” average and teacher recommendation
Offered To: Seniors (Juniors with Administrative and teacher approval.)
The French IV Advanced Placement class will include advanced grammar with the majority of present tense regular and irregular verbs, all past tenses, future tense, special verb moods, technical vocabulary, and advanced sentence structure will be reviewed with emphasis placed on thorough written and spoken application. Literary works such as “La Ficelle” by Maupaussant and Le Petit Prince by St. Exupery will be read and discussed completely in French with all evaluations being in the form of short French essay answers. Weekly oral practice by listening to and responding to French AP tapes will also be included. Oral presentations will be assigned to promote French articulation and precision of pronunciation. The students will be offered the opportunity to take the French Language AP test at the end of the course for possible college credit.
