Drawing students will analyze and evaluate how drawing techniques and processes combine to convey meaning as well as how they shape and reflect ideas, issues or themes in a particular culture or historical period. Students will understand how drawing changes in response to changes in society. The course allows students to experience the tools of drawing for communication of clear and focused ideas based on planning, research and problem solving. This course is a fundamental one for anyone who is interested in Art. The course allows students to experience the tools of the visual trade for communication through drawing. Studio experience includes pencil, ink, chalk and oil pastels, charcoal, and Prismacolor. Subject matter includes still life, figure drawing, landscape, and abstract.
