101 ART FOUNDATIONS

Offered To:  Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors

Art Foundations is a fundamental course for anyone who is interested in art.  Questions of philosophy will be discussed as it applies to art of different cultures and different historical periods.  Students will do some studio work to acquaint them with tools of the visual trade and to point out the differences between communication with the written word and with drawing and painting. This work will be done with pencil, charcoal, India ink, watercolor, chalk pastel, acrylic paint, and clay.
