Current Events

Welcome to Current Events!  I hope you that you are ready to get to work.  This course will be very different from some of the other classes you have taken.  There will be no textbook; instead we will rely on the media for the topics we will study.

Tentative Outline:
Daily journal on current news events
Weekly review & discussion of news stories
Research developing stories
Presentations related to current news
Special Reports – CNN Student News
Projects to be determined, as related to current topics

Possible Topics:
Media Bias
The Middle East- oil, terrorism, religion, conflicts etc
Africa- AIDS, Genocide, poverty
China- rise to power, Tibet, Human Rights, population control
American Politics

Materials:

You will need a binder or notebook for daily journaling.  You will be responsible for bringing this and a writing utensil everyday to class.  Occasionally you will need to bring colored pencils or markers.  We will utilize technology so I would suggest that you get a jump drive to save and transfer your work.
