Ballard's 4th Grade Classroom Management
Classroom Rules: Use work time wisely Return homework on time Complete assignments Always give your personal best Listen to and follow directions Take responsibility for your actions Be honest Treat others nicely Use kind words Keep your hands to yourself Respect others' belongings Treat school property appropriately Work quietly When working with someone else, respect their ideas Raise your hand to speak No talking while the teacher is talking
Consequences If the behavior continues, students must sign, date, and give a reason in the signature book. If the behavior continues, students must give a 2nd signature with a reason and he/she will lose his/her lunch recess. The next step is for students to give a 3rd signature and they will speak with Mr. Fairchild, the principal. At that time, a parent will be notified. Signature sheets are sent home every Friday with your child. They need to be signed and returned on Monday. If a student does not return the sheet on Monday, they will lose lunch recess. Sheets need to be signed even if they have no signatures. Rewards If students are caught being good, they will receive verbal praise, recognition for their efforts, Ballard Bucks, or sometimes a special treat. Ballard Bucks can be spent at the end of each month.
Late Work Policy I expect students to work on assignments at school during alloted class time. Each day we have a study hall period to catch up on and finish work from the day. If students cannot finish work in an appropriate amount of time, they could miss lunch recess. If the child becomes behind on work, I will send the work home to finish along with a Late Assignment note. This work is to be completed and returned the following day. Late work, when graded, is lowered by 10% if it is one day late. Two days late and the assignment is a zero. If a student gets a zero, they will bring home a slip that needs to be signed and returned the following day. Homework Policy Students will have Daily Geography (DOG) given out on a Monday and due on Friday. This is to be done at home and parental help can be provided. Students will have spelling words to study each week, also. Sometimes students will have math or reading homework as well. Your child should be reading approximately 20 minutes each night and filling in their reading logs as they begin and finish a book. Reading logs are collected at the end of each month. Grading Scale
If a student receives an F, or below a 66%, on an assignment or test, they can redo the work and turn it in. The grade will be raised if the work is corrected. |
