October Reading Log and Book Report

For this month’s book report, you will need to read an AR fiction book and pass an AR quiz (60% or higher) after finishing the book.  The book needs to be at least 100 pages long.  You will also create a book cover for the book you read.
To do this, you will fold a piece of blank white paper in half so that it is the shape of a book cover.  On the front, use creative lettering to write the title of the book and the author’s name.  Under the title and author, draw and color (with crayons or colored pencils) a picture of a scene from the book.  Inside, write a summary of the book.  (In other words, tell who the characters are, what the setting is, and what happens in the plot.)  Your summary should include at least 10 detailed sentences, and should tell all the most important parts of the story.
Your book cover will be graded in the following categories: following directions, spelling, grammar, punctuation, neatness, and effort.  Be sure to keep these things in mind as you do your work.
Your reading log goal for October is to read at least 325 pages.  You may include only one picture book on your reading log.  All other books should be chapter books.  Remember, from now on, you may not use any book for your book report that has been made into a movie.  Here is the reading log grading scale.

    325 Pages      A
    275 Pages      B
    225 Pages      C
    175 Pages     D
     < 175 Pages   F

Your book report and Reading Log is due Wednesday, October 31.  Feel free to turn in your book reports early if you finish it before the due date.

                              Happy Reading!
