Meet Mrs. Claus

Hello!  As you know, my name is Mrs. Claus, and I your child's teacher this year.  Fourth grade already!  Can you believe it?  We've hade a very successful start to the school year so far. We've learned about some quite interesting topics such as beginning algebra, life cycles/mealworms, and native americans. There is much more to come this year. I look forward to delving into more exciting curriculum with your child as the year contiues!

Let me tell you a little bit about myself to help you get to know me better. I grew up in a small town, Wheatfield, IN, on a family farm. After high school I attended Taylor University in Fort Wayne, IN and earned a B.S. in Elementary Education. My time there was wonderful, helping to prepare me for a variety of classroom scenarios. The first classroom I student taught in was in a 3rd grade room at South Wayne Elementary in Fort Wayne. My second student teaching experience was in a Bunche Montessori School, also in Fort Wayne. My experienes at Taylor were diverse, and have helped me learn to appreciate students from all kinds of backgrounds.

The year after I graduated from Taylor, I was hired into my first teaching position as a 2nd grade teacher in Rennselaer, IN. The next summer I married my husband, Jeremy, which is what brought me to the Peoria area. My husband and I currently live in Chillicothe with our dog, Gus. We spend most of our time updating our home and enjoying the great outdoors. Hiking, camping, boating, and archery are some of our favorite outdoor activities. I also enjoy scrapbooking and quilting.

Now that you have learned about my, I want you to know how excited I am to get to know you and your child more this year. I have alreading enjoyed them so far. I can't wait to see what the year has in store for us! Have a great school year!
