Homework Policy and Grading Scale

Any homework you have is due at 7:45!

An assignment that is late will result in a 10 point deduction of the students grade for that assignment for up to 2 days.  After the second day late, a zero will be recorded in the grade book for the assignment.

All assignments must be completed, however, because the student will miss recess until the work is turned in.

A “Late Assignment Notice” will be sent home the day any assignment is missing and should be signed by a parent and returned the next day with the assignment. An unsigned Late Assignment Notice will also result in a missed recess.

Grading Scale/Grading Procedures

The following grading scale will be used in fourth grade:

A+              100-99
A               98-94
A-               93-92
B+              91-90
B                89-86
B-               85-84
C+              83-82
C                81-76
C-               75-74
D+              73-72
D                71-68
D-               67-66
F          65 and below

All papers will be evaluated, but not all grades will be recorded in the grade book.  In some cases, work will have been done together in class.  Late work will receive a lower grade if not turned in the following day.  Tests and projects will count double the scores of the daily assignments.

Students scoring below 65% on a major test will have the opportunity to improve their grade by completing some remediation activities as determined by the teacher.  The higher score of the tests can then be recorded, but not to exceed 65%.

Once the teacher has notified the student of what is necessary to improve the score, it becomes the student’s responsibility to complete these requirements.
