MUSICAL CONCERT

Congratulations to the 4 th and 5 th grade students on a wonderful final performance this last Tuesday evening. The chorus, band and orchestra did an outstanding job. It was wonderful to hear all four schools together.

 

HEALTH RECORDS

Just a reminder that all students must have health records in compliance by registration day in August. Children will not be permitted to begin school until all requirements as set forth in The School Code of Illinois have been met. Parents should check the elementary handbook for details.

 

FAMILIES MOVING

Families who are moving from Banner should notify Mrs. Begner. This information will help in making plans for the 2008-2009 school year.

Monday - Sausage pizza, combo salad, pretzels, oranges, milk

Tuesday - Ravioli, green beans, cottage cheese, pineapple, garlic toast, milk

Wednesday - French toast sticks, ham/egg casserole, tri-tator hashbrowns, melon chunks, milk

Thursday - Oven fried chicken, mashed potatoes/gravy, peas & carrots, apple crisp, wheat rolls, milk

Friday - Hot dog/chili dog, macaroni & cheese, green beans, cinnamon applesauce, milk

2008-2009 SCHOOL YEAR REGISTRATION

As we are getting closer to the end of the school year, we begin thinking about next year. Registration packets for the 2008-2009 school year have been distributed to students with a return date of May 16. There will be no walk-in or mail-in registration as in past. Please spread the word to neighbors who you know will be attending Banner next year. They should contact the school to obtain a packet.

 


A.R. STORE

The next Accelerated (AR) Store will be held Friday, May 16.  Students will be able to turn in AR points for prizes at that time.  The last day for taking AR tests for point usage at the store will be Wednesday, May 14. BEAR points are not affected by using points at the AR store.

 

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

Last week, students collected money and jumped rope for the American Heart Association. Over $3100 was raised for this worthy cause.

 

PTO NEWS

A BIG thank you to everyone who ordered from Market Day this year!!  We earned $2200.00 for PTO projects.  Also, thank you so much to all who helped on pick-up days.  We were few but mighty!   If you need items over the summer you can go to Marketday.com and enter your zip code to find the nearest summer sale.  Have a great summer! Thank you to all the many Banner families and staff who saved Campbell's soup UPCs throughout the year.  CONGRATULATIONS TO MISS PALMER'S AM KINDERGARTEN CLASS WHO EARNED 1,256 POINTS!!!!  GREAT JOB!!!  Your class will receive an ice cream treat this month!   Our school earned a total of 4,458 points which will allow Banner to pick out some great athletic and educational equipment.   This program will continue next year so please keep clipping those UPC codes over the summer.  Special thanks to all the moms who collected and counted the soup labels this year.  Your help was GREATLY appreciated. ST. JUDE RUN

ATTENTION ADULTS AND 18 YEAR OLD HIGH SCHOOL RUNNERS!!! The 2nd annual St. Jude “Dunlap/Chillicothe” satellite run on August 2 nd is looking for more participants.  The run begins that morning in Dunlap and continues on a 50 mile course. The distance you run is up to you - it can be as little as 2 miles or as many as you like.  As a participant, you are asked to raise $500 in donations to benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Questions, call Sherry Miller 243-2525 or Linda Kier 691-6081.

 

DUNLAP JFL

Junior Football League Registration:

Preparations are underway for Dunlap Junior Football 2008. We are committed to teaching the game of football, instilling discipline and forging teamwork and having fun! Dunlap JFL offers flag football for ages 5-7, cheerleading for ages 8-14, and tackle football for ages 8-14. Registration dates, times and location are as follows:

Friday, July 25, 2008, 10:30-Noon at North Park, Dunlap

Saturday, August 2, 2008, 9-Noon at North Park, Dunlap, (Equipment Handout)

The cost for Flag and Cheerleading is $50.00 per participant.

The cost for tackle is $80 with multiple family discounts within tackle only.
