BUSINESS

LUNCH
Hot lunch at Ridgeview is $1.35.  This includes a choice of white or chocolate milk.  If your child just needs milk for their cold lunch, they will need $.30.  In order to put money on your child’s account, please send it in an envelope marked with your child’s first and last name.  You may also wish to deposit money on the Café Prepay option on our school website.  I would suggest weekly or monthly deposits.  Each time they eat hot lunch, that amount is debited from the account.  When the account is almost empty, a notice will be sent home.  Lunch credits are not given.  If a child forgets money or does not have money in their account, they will be given a peanut butter sandwich.

Treats/Snacks
Our school policy for bringing treats or snacks is as follows:

Each item must be store bought, individually wrapped, and in the original package.

If you wish to send a treat for your child’s birthday, please let me know in advance.  We have 23 students in our class, so please send enough to accommodate each student! There is one student who cannot have anything with peanuts in it. Also, we have one student with a dairy allergy. However, I have snacks for these children if the snack has peanuts or milk in it.

Absenteeism
If you know ahead of time that your child is going to be absent, please let the office and I know.  Work will be sent home to complete upon the child’s return.  If you will be out of town for an extended period of time, only the basic subject material will be sent home.  Due to the nature of our activities, some projects cannot be completed at home.

Homework
Second grade homework in 2L includes studying spelling words, a weekly spelling packet (due Friday), reading, math fact practice, an occasional worksheet, checking over daily papers, and cursive 2nd semester. Second graders have a monthly reading log to keep track of nightly reading. They should read a minimum of 15 minutes each evening. Students also need to practice math facts each evening for a minimum of 10 minutes or 50 minutes weekly. .If your child does not complete work in class, it will be sent home to be completed and returned the next day.  Please oversee the work and feel free to check it, but do not do it for them.  We want them to know that if they work hard in school, they will finish their work.  Let them know that all work needs to be complete. It is important to get into the routine of having your child check his/her folder and complete his/her homework in order for children to learn about responsibility.
