For all my grade levels, I use the textbook that students are using in the regular rooms. The reason for this is because students will still need to know all these skills for the ISAT Testing we have every year. However, I do different kinds of activites in my room and use a hands-on approach for my students. I think they learn better this way and understand the concepts more thoroughly. We also go through the chapters at our own pace.

Math Fluency

Math Fluency is another program that is new this year. This will be done daily along with the regular math curriculum. The goal of the unit is to get students to be able to know their math facts without having to count on their hands, use a number line, etc. We are starting off with addition and will do this unit with subtraction, too. We will only do this for about the first 15 minutes of math time. Students will sometimes get sheets home to practice with and then will do a timed test the next day. Please practice, practice, practice these facts with your child!
