Grading Scale and Homework Policy

The following grading scale is used in fourth grade:

Homework Policy

Responsibility is very important in fourth grade. Homework will be given on a daily basis in order to extend on what we are working on in class. A small part of the day will be designated for students to get a head start on this work. Students will be using assignment notebooks to keep track of their responsibilities each night.

Most papers will be evaluated, but not all work will be recorded in the grade book. In some cases, work will have been done together in class. Tests and major projects will be weighted more than daily homework assignments.

Late Work

For each day that a homework assignment is not turned in or completed, that assignment will be lowered one letter grade. Students must fill out a Missing Homework Form, have it signed by a parent, and return it the following day. Students will use their recess as a study hall to complete the assignment. If late or incomplete homework becomes a problem, other arrangements may need to be made.
